Vitamin K1

Vitamin k1 is one compound belonging to the top group of vitamin k. Vitamin k1 is fat soluble and easily decomposes under sun light. It is very stable in normal air and even moisture cannot harm vitamin k1 much. Vitamin k1 is found in a wide variety of plants and therefore vegan vitamin k1 is easily found. Vitamin k1 is also known as phytonadine and is the natural form of vitamin k. Some people know vitamin k1 also as pylloquinone, which actually is a brand name/manufacturers name for vitamin k1.

Benefits of vitamin k1 include help with normal blood clotting and therefore are essential for the human body in the healing process of wounds and blood thickness in the body.

Natural sources for vitamin k in general include green leafy vegetables like spinach, broccoli, asparagus, watercress, cabbage, cauliflower, green peas, beans, olives, canola, soybeans, meat, cereals, and dairy products. Cooking does not remove significant amounts of vitamin k from these foods. If a healthy balanced diet including these foods is established enough vitamin k1 is likely ingested and supplementation is not required.

Vitamin k1 deficiencies are rare in the united states and western Europe and if found in a person can lead to defective blood clotting and increased bleeding. Vitamin k deficiencies are commonly only found in people with malnutrition and therefore also including acohol dependent people. Another group of people at risk for deficiency are people with fat absorption problems, since vitam in k1 is fat soluble vitamin.

Several studies are out there linking vitamin k1 to help with healing osteoporosis. Extensive research on the topic of vitamin k1 as well as other vitamins is done for example by the ABBOTT laboratories in Singapore. Lots of product research, supplements, medications are checked for their potency and also for their help in healing certain conditions.

Some of this research also profits to people that are having trouble taking vitamins in pill form. Compounds are developed which are water soluble and therefore vitamin k1 drops are as an result an easy way to supplement necessary vitamins. As mentioned before fat is needed for the absorption of vitamin k1 and with vitamin k1 drops it is easy to add vitamin k to for example fish oil supplements.

Some studies conducted with vitamin k1, k2 and k3 even show that there is a possiblity to use vitmain k in the fight against cancer. One of the studies showed that patients with lung cancer that were treated with vitamin k2 displayed a slowed growth of the cancer cells.
