B Vitamins
The b vitamins play just as an essential role as the well-known vitamin c. The B vitamin group consists of eight water soluble vitamins. These eight vitamins only have one top name since at their discovery they were originally though to be only a single vitamin. Referring to each one of the vitamins a number was assigned along with then name vitamin b. If all eight vitamins exist in a dietary supplement it is referred to as the vitamin b complex. The b complex vitamins are vitamin b1 (Thiamine), vitamin b2 (Riboflavin), vitamin b3 (Niacin), vitamin b5 (Pantothenic acid), vitamin b6 (Pyridoxine
), vitamin b7 (Biotin), vitamin b9 (Folic acid) and vitamin b12 (Cobalamin). Foods high in vitamin b are whole grain, poultry, fish, lean meats and bananas. Another way to get vitamin b through nutrition is by eating foods with vitamin b such as fortified breads, grains and cereals. The b vitamins mainly help with carbohydrate metabolism, energy production, normal nerve function and formation of red blood cells. Benefits of vitamin b12 for example are help with synthesis of DNA and formation of normal red blood cells as well as help maintaining normal electrical conductivity in the nerves.
